SAN LEANDRO, Calif., April 8, 2025 — Fuse Energy Technologies Corporation (Fuse) announces the successful completion of a rigorous test campaign with Fifth Gait Technologies on Fuse's FAETON fusion radiation source. The tests proved the importance of FAETON for the national security and space communities.
FAETON, a groundbreaking dense plasma focus (DPF) device, features a compact design and versatile pulse capabilities. FAETON enables the development of robust technologies that ensure mission-critical systems operate reliably in natural or human-made, high-radiation environments, to include outer space. The collaborative testing campaign included over 140 shots and generated consistently 2.5x10^10 neutrons, and a maximum yield of 8x10^10 neutrons, proving FAETON as a first of its kind fusion generator now available for defense and commercial customers. FAETON has a .01 Hz shot cycle and automated data acquisition to provide same-day turnaround for test data. Future FAETON models are in production and will generate neutrons at strategic systems testing levels.
This achievement represents a significant milestone in de-risking Fuse's pathway to commercialized fusion by providing neutron source and testing schemes that not only generate revenue to fund Fuse's fusion work but also produce critical data and insights needed for the better design of fusion targets.
Since building FAETON in 2022, Fuse has fired over 1,100 shots on the machine, demonstrating the capital-efficient roadmap the company is pursuing for energy solutions. Fifth Gait Technologies served as a key testing validator throughout the campaign, leveraging their expertise in mission assurance and test campaigns. Fuse has now submitted the groundbreaking test campaign results to a top-tier scientific journal for peer-review and expects publication later this year.
Richard Horton, Chief Strategy Officer at Fifth Gait Technologies, who was onsite to observe the testing regime remarked,
"Our collaboration with Fuse on the FAETON testing campaign has demonstrated the viability of Fuse’s hardware. The consistent performance and reliability of FAETON make it an invaluable tool for radiation testing and nuclear effects testing."
Fuse has already secured Fortune 500 commercial bookings on FAETON from major energy companies interested in proving materials design and research. Additionally, FAETON has gained strong traction with defense customers, with Fuse already executing ongoing contracts with the U.S. Air Force supported by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, along with other undisclosed Department of Defense customers.
JC Btaiche, CEO of Fuse added,
“The successful completion of this testing campaign validates FAETON as a unique capability providing value for a wide range of customers, from government to commercial aerospace, generating a significant revenue opportunity. FAETON exemplifies our unique approach to fusion energy technology development, leveraging radiation produced in the process to test defense and commercial aerospace infrastructure while generating critical data that advances our pathway to commercial fusion power.”
U.S.-based Fuse Energy Technologies Corporation (Fuse) is accelerating the world's transition to fusion energy by securing clean, reliable, global energy abundance while also ensuring U.S. and Allied competitiveness through nuclear effects testing. The company's groundbreaking hardware includes TITAN, the world's first impedance-matched Marx generator (IMG) of its kind, and FAETON, a dense plasma focus (DPF) device.
